We have been seeing a lot of rips at the gym lately. I have stressed the importance of hand care in the past, but it seems i need to do it again. We do a lot of barbell work and pork on the pull ups bars. you need to take care of you hands, and when you do tear learn to treat it appropriately so you heal quickly.
To prevent tears I do a couple of things on a regular basis. First I clip file all my callouses so that they remain flat and smooth but still tough. second I use any number of lotions that help keep them pliable you can use the RIPT system we sell at the gym or something as simple as corn huskers lotion. You don't want one of those that come with all sorts of scents and what not those will usually not be as good.
